The Caitlin County Hemp Wars

Staged Reading

Boston Playwrights Theatre
November 25th, 2008
Director – Jennifer Vento
Music Director – Rebecca Booth-Fox
Lighting – Michael Clark Wonson

Bravo! to our incredible cast, musicians, and creative team for an amazing first staged reading. When you think of all the things that could possibly go wrong – nothing did!
Music sounded great! Fabulous acting and singing! Jen’s efforts at blocking elevated the staged reading to another realm, and lighting by Michael Clark Wonson added a whole new demension.
Great audience, and some post-reading feed back offered Don and I an opportunity to make changes for the spring.  Stay tuned.

Looking back:

October 30th –
We have a date and place – November 25th at the Boston Playwrights Theatre, for what will be the historic first staged reading of ‘The Caitlin County Hemp Wars’.
–
Several rehearsals in, and we have a pretty amazing cast and group of musicians who get better and better with each rehearsal. Our music director, Rebecca Booth-Fox, is doing a fabulous job teaching everyone their musical parts, and director Jen Vento, is stretching the limits of the script-in-hand reading to include props and blocking, so we get a better taste of the theatrical experience. Much preferable to the usual script-in-hand line up. This should be an interesting evening of entertainment!

August 14th –
Cast is shaping up for a staged reading sometime late November (exact date and place to be determined). The Caitlin County family is growing with eleven talented actors attending a second Cambridge reading (book and music) accompanied by guitar and violin! We now have a music director and are getting ready for music rehearsals in September.

July 3rd –
The day before Independence Day and we had our first reading of ‘Caitlin County…’  (in Cambridge). Music sounded good, nice group of people, and a fine time was had by all. Our next reading (book and music) will be Thursday, August 14th.
